Alief Hastings High School resides within Alief Independent School District, which is composed of 43 campuses and over 400,000 students. Alief was established in 1911 and named after famous Postmistress, Alief Magee.  Alief Hastings High School officially opened its doors in 1975-1976.  Alief Hastings High School is situated across the street from Alief Middle School, which is next to Yeomen Elementary School.  A block north of the school is the Alief Independent School District Administrative building.  Average class size at Alief Hastings High School is currently between 25-30 students.  Alief Hastings High School has numerous veteran teachers.  However, the staff seems very youthful and alive, a necessary ingredient in high schools.  The Alief Hastings High School just recently suffered a great loss in the death of their principal, Mr. Bloomquist.
